A Piece Of History

Went down for the first time to Potong Pasir. I have been wanting to go down to take picture with the signboard that has became a local "tourist" hotspot as the board would soon give way to someone else's face. In fact, I saw a family of tourist while walking towards the board haha.  I still couldn't fathom what my heart was feeling, the urge to go down... even though I wasn't a resident whose life Mr Chiam had personally touched. Perhaps the relentless support that others gave to him was really a true indication of how good he was and will still continue to be to the residents there.

Anyway, I shall not talk anymore about GE, despite the radical changes these couple of weeks. It honestly tire me out. Have you had listen to the public sentiments, does these changes still need to be met out five years later and only AFTER the election ? *shakes head*, I cannot understand these million-dollar salary people.

So with my cuzzie, we went around Potong and it was nothing like what the ruling party claimed it was. There were more flats that were only 4 stories tall but hey, we see that in Serangoon too. Yes the lifts don't stop at every floor, but hey flats in YCK are the same too even though LHL is at the helm (ironic). And nope it is not dirty or messy or smelly. If you didn't know, you would think that it is just like another PAP ward.

Despite the signboard in my estate being another 0.5times bigger than this, I think what stood out here is "My Kind Of Town". It just gave me a immediate warm feeling because the only words I saw on the signboard in my estate was "Welcome To ________" (I actually forgot what was the word). In any case it wasn't aesthetically done, because my designer friend told me to never put more than 3 different types of fonts on the same page. So anyhow, I still think PP signboard is nicer, and therefore it became a piece of history that I took away today.

Still don't understand how can someone who learn photography
can take a peeture so slanted haiii got GRID for her to use too lor.

Naturally my jump shot :P
Amazingly I didn't cover his face.
The only graffiti that I don't regard as one

Service before self: I think this aptly describes Mr Chiam

When I saw pictures of where Mr Chiam held his MPS, I was actually shocked. Now that i have been there, it felt like another personal touch of his. Some people may have the comfort of nice chairs and air-conditioned place but sometimes an "official" looking place may deter residents from asking questions too.
Wondering why the SPP umbrella was there?

Ta-da! I very smartly chose the right day to explore PP. Prior to today, I didn't know that SPP were hosting their thank you party here. So obviously everyone was staring at us, I think there was a short moment of silence actually. It's either we looked like aliens descending from other places (since everyone appeared to know each other) or it could be because of my pink lenses (lol!). I was standing rather near the Chiam couple but was actually too shy to ask for pictures since I am not in their ward. Sigh wasted! But I did took a couple of pictures of them before they went to settle their lunch.

Their interaction with residents actually surprised me. The only one time I volunteered for RC activity (by force actually) in my GRC, I remembered the MP who came moved very swiftly and was gone rather quickly too. He usually has a group of grassroots leaders surrounding him as though as they were CISCO bodyguards. Tsk.

If you never seen the Chiam couple before, you would think that this is a family party or something. The only time I stood so close to my MP was when I received the MOE busaries/scholarships when I was younger. And even then it was just a word of "Congratulations".

But here, it was different. They didn't just mix around with "grassroots leaders". They didn't sit away from the residents and form a table by themselves. They sit TOGETHER with the residents and chit chatted happily away. Maybe this happened in other SMC I don't know, but this definitely never happen in my GRC.

The auntie was actually fanning Mr. Chiam

So I went to my cousin's house for my own family party after my "fruitful" trip to PP. Given a chance I wouldn't mind move to PP, but that's if that PAP guy don't ruin Mr Chiam's hard work. Just a normal gathering for us, so I didn't snap a lot of pictures.

Boys will be boys...
